Daily Training Diary

My knees said no, my mind said yes, so it was more Tekki practice tonight.

Tekki Shodan x 5
Tekki Nidan x 5
Tekki Sandan x 10

The motivator tonight was watching videos of Osaka Sensei, the master technician. I am constantly in awe of the power he develops and his amazing kime/relax ability which make for the ultimate in dynamic karate. It's no coincidence that the only photo on the JKA's "Techniques" webpage is of Osaka Sensei.

This is what I had been missing in my karate recovery. I have been focussing so much on learning moves and techniques, that I had moved on to the next kata before practicing full power with proper Kime. Of course, having a ripped bicep for 6 weeks was a bit of a stopper, but I am 90% past that now.

It felt good trying to put 100% into a technique, without losing the technique.

This session ended with Junro Sandan. I enjoy the flow of the techniques in this kata and look forward to regaining the sharpness I remember my body managing years ago. Only practice is required, which is free, and requires no equipment - what's not to like about karate?
